Mothers Day is just around the corner! I would like to take the chance to tell you about my Mum.
My mum is the strongest most beautiful woman I have ever known. She is truly “Super-Mum”. Growing up she was always the parent helper at school; all her free time went to being in class with us, going on field trips, running school dances, hot dog days, hot lunch programs and so much more. All she did was completely self-less and for the betterment of me and all the kids in the school.
Growing up I don’t think any girl realises her mum is her best friend. I know I didn’t. But as I got older it became more and more clear. My mum and I always had a closer bond then I think some girls have with their mum. It wasn’t until about a year after high school that we got really close. I think it was on our first big trip together that brought it all together. We went to San Francisco in May of 2008, to this day one of my favourite trips together (and we have been on a lot!). Every year after that we went to San Fran in Sept for the Power to the Peaceful concert in Golden Gate Park; this past year was the first year we did not go (for good reasons….my wedding was just around the corner!) The same year of our first girls trip we went to Celtic Colours on Cape Breton Island…I was 19 at the time and my mum out partied me! Our latest adventures have been to Palm Springs in 2011 to decorate my parents condo and this past February to Los Angles for the Zumba Instructor Conference! I cannot imagine going on this trips with anyone else.
My mum has been there for me though everything, the good the bad the ugly (and trust me there was times it has been ugly!) she stuck though it all the way. She is the light at the end of my tunnel because of her I have accomplished so much and have become the woman I have become. If she didn’t push me, give me love and tough love I don’t know where I would be today.
I love you mum, you do not know how much you mean to me. You are “super mum” still. You still put everyone before yourself and care so much. When I have kids, if I can be half the mum you are I will be happy, you set the bar high. Xoxo
